5 Halloween Decor Tips to Spookify Your Home

Halloween is near, which means houses and yards are covered in giant spiders, gravestones, skeletons and more. As you begin to get ready for a night of tricks and treats, Progressive Builders finds it important to share some of our easy and fun decorating ideas for your home. Simple, yet sophisticated, these five ideas are sure to get your house into the Halloween spirit.

  1. Add some stoop swag.
Arrange a pile of pumpkins, squash and gourds in various sizes, shapes and colors on your front stoop. Want to boost the spook-factor? Use a marker to add a ghoulish message, or slap on some Halloween decals. That way, you can keep from making a mess with all the pumpkin goop and carving.
  2. Liven up your mantel.
Your mantel isn’t just for warming up near the fireplace – hang a garland or two! Don’t have garland? You can easily make some by stringing together ghosts made of paper towels, cutting out letters that spell out “B-O-O-!” or creating construction paper witch hats.
  3. Use vinyl stickers on the wall.
Not only are these stickers really easy to put up, but a few Halloween-themed vinyl stickers are key to bringing the scary out of your walls. Consider adding a spooky message on a wall, window or staircase.
  4. Make a tablescape.
Whether you’re planning a Halloween party or just having guests over for dinner, amp up the holiday spirit by decorating your dining table with a festive smattering of pumpkins. Create a myriad of decor by incorporating other decorative accessories such as mason jars, candles and pumpkin candies.
  5. Go for silhouettes.
Cut-out silhouettes are cost-friendly and easy to create. With a pre-drawn template, some black poster paper and scissors, you can be the grandest house on the block. Trick or treaters, beware!

Halloween can be fun and easy to decorate for without having to involve a crew of set decorators. With a few pumpkins and some crafty skills, you can make one-of-a-kind decorations to spook-up your home, both indoors and out.
