Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays of the year, and if you’re hosting it at your house, our team at Progressive Builders knows that’s a big responsibility. Here are a few tips to make preparation for the big day as stress-free as possible this Thanksgiving.
1. Prep a few weeks ahead.
It might sound like a long time before Thanksgiving, but it’s never too early to start getting things in order. Walk through your house and make an assessment of any areas that need obvious repair, so you can take care of these sooner rather than later.
2. Stock up.
During the week of Thanksgiving, write out a list of what needs to be done. If you have any recipes, gather them together with the ingredients so they stay organized. You can even use a whiteboard or a checklist to lay out your plan in a clear and visible way.
3. Set your table Thanksgiving Eve.
Setting the table the night before Thanksgiving gives you one less thing to worry about on the big day. Make a centerpiece by arranging a set of candles of different heights in a bed of leaves, small pine cones or branches covered in lichen.
4. Organize your cabinets.
If you’re having guests over, take time to organize the plates, bowls and serving platters you’re going to use. You may find that smallwares are missing or there are a few chipped plates. Checking your dining sets early will help give a sense of calm come Turkey day.
5. Add some accent pillows.
Make it feel like the holidays by adding some accent pillows in deep red and gold hues. Have the living room look more inviting by dimming the lights and sparking up the fireplace.
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it can be easy to lose sight of the basic tasks. By organizing your space now, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy yourself by the time Thanksgiving arrives.
